KÖPINGTOWN exists for one reason: a hand-built mattress and a mass-produced one are not the same product, whatever the label says. We build the traditional European way — pocket springs sewn into calico, horsehair teased by hand, tufts pulled through and tied, side walls stitched row by row.

KÖPINGTOWN — in Chinese, 雪平小镇, "the snow-plain town" — began with a conviction rather than a marketing plan: that the way European beds were built for two centuries still has no better answer, and that natural materials deserve patient hands.
The name borrows from the quiet market towns of the Nordic north — a köping — as a reminder of what we build for: rooms that breathe, wool and horsehair instead of foam, and a craft culture where comfort means the absence of noise, not the addition of features. Natural · Comfortable · Relaxed. That is the whole philosophy, and it is printed on nothing because it is stitched into everything.

From enquiry to installation

| 2 · Specification | We send construction sheets, the lab report set and trade pricing; fire-performance construction is scoped for your destination market. |
| 3 · Sample | A pre-production sample or fabric swatch set is agreed and signed off before mass production. |
| 4 · Production | Hand-built to the signed sample, with model identification and batch traceability on every bed. |
| 5 · Shipping | Flat-packed on pallets (never roll-compressed — compressed horsehair loses its memory), ISPM 15-treated wood packaging with IPPC marks. |
| 6 · Aftercare | Top mattresses on two-tier builds can be re-covered or replaced independently, keeping the core in service for decades. |
Note on shipping: our beds are hand-tufted with natural horsehair and are not vacuum roll-packed. Freight is calculated per pallet — ask us for the packing plan before you price a project.
