Hotel beds for the Gulf.
Priced by the project,
not by the unit.

A 240-key refurbishment is not 240 mattress purchases. It is a delivery schedule, a spare ratio, a storage plan, a fire specification, a batch record and a price that survives the freight. We quote projects that way — and we run the whole conversation on WhatsApp, because that is how the Gulf buys.

Straight answer on the one question every Gulf buyer asks. Mattresses are not covered by the US antidumping and countervailing orders when they are sold into the Gulf, so your landed cost is duty plus VAT rather than a punitive tariff. That is a genuine advantage, and it is also the reason a hand-built European-style bed can be competitive here at all. Confirm the current position with your clearance agent before you price a tender — we are manufacturers, not your customs adviser.
What a contract needs

Six things a hotel buyer actually cares about

RequirementHow we handle it
Can you supply the quantity?Contract runs are built to an agreed construction sheet and produced in batches. Give us the room count and the completion date and we will set out the production slots before you commit.
Can you deliver in phases?Refurbishments rarely take everything at once. We plan staged shipments by floor, wing or phase, so mattresses arrive when there is somewhere dry to store them.
What happens when one gets damaged? We quote a spare ratio — typically 3–5% of room count — so housekeeping can swap a bed the same day. A spare from the same batch also means the replacement matches.
What will the fire assessor ask for?Test evidence for the construction supplied, plus the compliance labels on the beds themselves, plus the batch records. Send us the project fire specification and we build to it.
What does it cost landed? We quote the packing plan and loading with the price, so you are not guessing at freight. Pallets, not rolled bags — the volume is honest and the number is real.
Will the next batch match the first?Same construction sheet, same fills, same ticking, same tufting. The construction sheet and the approved sample are the contract; batch records are how we prove it later.
Climate

A bed that breathes in 45°C

Foam is the wrong material for this region, and not only because of the heat.

Polyurethane foam is a closed, insulating layer. In a hot climate it holds body heat, and in coastal humidity it takes on moisture and slowly loses its recovery — which is why hotel beds in humid markets so often feel flat within two or three seasons and get replaced on a cycle that has nothing to do with wear.

Our builds invert that logic. Teased black horsehair works as a natural spring that moves air through the bed. Wool and wool-cotton blends buffer temperature in both directions. Cotton and jute felt stay dry and firm. There is no glue-sprayed foam block anywhere in the construction, so there is nothing to collapse.

Two practical points we handle for Gulf consignments: we never vacuum-seal natural fillings, because a sealed damp bed is a mould problem waiting to open; and we pack with moisture protection because a container crossing to Jebel Ali in August will condense water on the inside of its own roof.

Fire performance

No standard across the Gulf — so send us the specification

Unlike the UK, there is no single mattress fire standard imposed Gulf-wide. The requirement comes from the project specification and from the authority having jurisdiction — the Civil Defence or municipality for the emirate, city or project — and it varies from tower to tower.

In practice, specifications in the region most often reference BS 7177 hazard categories (with Crib 5 for hotel and public accommodation), BS 5852 ignition sources, or EN 597. Some consultants now write in EN 1021 for upholstered seating alongside them.

So the workflow is simple: send us the fire strategy or the FF&E specification from your consultant. We will tell you what it means for the construction, what it does to the feel and the price, and we will test the finished build to that standard rather than a convenient one.

Clearance & delivery

Getting the consignment in

Wood packaging for the Gulf must be ISPM 15 heat-treated or fumigated and carry the IPPC mark. Untreated pallets are the single most common reason a container is stopped, fumigated at your cost, or turned back. Every consignment we send is compliant and marked.

MarketWhat to check with your importer
Saudi ArabiaWhether your HS line falls under SABER, which needs a Product Certificate and a shipment-level Shipment Certificate raised through the platform by the Saudi importer. VAT is 15%.
United Arab EmiratesWhether the product requires ECAS registration for your emirate. VAT is 5%.
QatarImport permit and conformity documentation requirements, confirmed with your clearance agent before the booking is made.

We supply the commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, material and test documentation, and the origin and processing paperwork for animal-derived fillings. The conformity platform work sits with your importer, because that is how those systems are built.

What we prepare

For a contract quotation

  • Construction sheet per model in the schedule
  • Batch pricing by quantity tier, and the spare ratio priced separately
  • Fire-performance construction scoped to the project specification
  • Packing plan: pallet dimensions, units per pallet, container loading
  • Phased delivery schedule aligned to your programme
  • Mixed models on shared pallets where a project needs them
  • Batch traceability records, retained for the life of the project
  • Care and rotation schedule for housekeeping, plus a repair and re-cover route
Questions we get asked

Gulf project questions

What is the minimum order?

There is no useful published number, because the right minimum depends on the model, the packing plan and whether the freight is shared with another project. Send the brief and we will tell you the smallest quantity that makes commercial sense rather than quoting a floor we invented.

What is the lead time?

Hand-built beds are not off-the-shelf, so we will not publish a lead time we cannot keep. Your quotation states the production slot and the shipping window, and we confirm them against the batch before you commit.

Can we get a sample before the contract?

Yes, and we recommend it. A pre-production sample or a full swatch set is agreed and signed off before mass production starts — that signed sample is the definition of the contract goods.

Can you match an existing mattress specification?

Usually. Send the existing construction, the current model, or just the height, feel and filling list, and we will map it to a build or write a new construction sheet against it.

Do you do branded base and headboard sets?

We build the mattress and can supply matching divan bases and headboards. Upholstered bases and headboards are treated as upholstered furniture for fire purposes, so tell us the destination standard for the full set, not just the mattress.
